About

Candace Butler is a poet + songwriter and designer in southern Virginia.

Known for her typographic work, Butler is Editor-in-Chief of Wild Leek Press, an independent literary press focusing on letterpress printing and design. 

Butler has two chapbooks of poetry, and her poems appear in journals and anthologies, including The Southern Poetry Anthology, The Anthology of Appalachian Writers: Nikki Giovanni Volume VIIIStill: The Journal, OneThe Pikeville ReviewPrime Number MagazineClamorRiverLit, Pure CoincidenceAbout Place JournalEclectica Magazine3 Elements ReviewSilver Birch PressKind of a Hurricane Press, and others (comprehensive list of publications). Butler holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing with a focus in Poetry and Creative Nonfiction from Antioch University of Los Angeles. Butler is Lecturer of Writing & Design at Emory & Henry College in Emory, VA and Adjunct Assistant Professor of English at King University in Bristol, TN. Her primary research and teaching interests are creative writing, print design, and typography.
